QI of Aruba
"Club created an ear plug campaign. There was a lot of awareness.
The club had a TV ad and a jingle. Earplug donation was received from
the refinery in Aruba. We used this to distribute earplugs to small children
during carnival time and sell them to adult participants and audiences
along the roads. This helped to raise funds for other service work."

QI of Massillon, Ohio, U.S.A.
"Run 'Sound Beginnings' program. State provides hearing screening
and the club provides intervention. With funding from grants newborn infants
up through children three years old are provided with hearing aids."
QI of Paso Robles, California, U.S.A.
"Club held a 'Noise Day'at a local school. There was a competition
for the best poster on noise. Members explained about the dangers of noise
and gave out earplugs."
QI of Townsville, Queensland, Australia
"Funded an acoustic testing machine for our local hospital. The club
raised funds through a local pediatrician, and the government helped with
support after the project started. This was an ongoing project over four
years."
QI of Whakatane, New Zealand
"Provide ongoing support to community and local health professionals
to continue with the use of an Otoacoustic Emission (OAE) machine and
screening new born infants in conjunction with project Hiedi and the New
Zealand government. Also sponsor a hearing testing van that goes to different
areas and tests the hearing of people. Both of these projects are confirmed
for at least five years."

"Club purchased English to Spanish sign language videos for the county
to send to deaf families."

"Club collects used hearing aids to be refurbished. Low income applicants
are fitted by local audiologists and given refurbished hearing aids."

"Money donated to our library for purchase of captioned videos. A
special needs school was also provided with a VCR to tape captioned programs."

"Club runs a room at the community health center with examples of
all kinds of equipment for the hard of hearingdoor bells, televisions,
loop systems, telephones, etc. Quota members staffed the room and demonstrated
how items were used. Audiologists advised the club on what equipment to
display."

"Club provides support to hearing-impaired people. They fund cochlear
implants and buy hearing aids. Fund raising is done by the golf outingan
annual event for business people in the community."

"Our club has purchased hearing aids for disadvantaged people. One
man, who was homeless, was able to start a course at a local college;
another women was able to attend Galluadet University. Our dogs for the
deaf program helps raise awareness of Quota in our community."

"The club purchased a hearing machine for a local hospital and a
modem for deaf people mentored by a club member. This project helped get
Quota recognized and encouraged new membership."

"We provide a scholarship for advanced studies in sign language for
court or legal situations."

"Bought five TTY (text telephone) machines for various crisis centers
and shelters."

QI of Armidale, New South Wales, Australia
"Provided a cochlear implant for a young boy. Club then maintained
a relationship with the boy and his family and later purchased two decoders
for them."
QI of Biloela, Queensland, Australia
"Club paid for "teacher aide" hours at local primary school.
This makes the teacher aides available an extra 20 hours per week to work
with hearing-impaired students."
QI of Camden, New South Wales, Australia
"Camden has supported a young woman named Felicity since she was
a girl. She has been provided with a cochlear implant and other equipment
through the support of Quota. Felicity has gone on to become a paralympic
equestrian."
QI of Coral Springs/Parkland, Florida, U.S.A.
"Our favorite project is sponsoring a soccer team with a deaf child.
As a new club, this project gave us publicity in the community and allowed
us to tell the parents of all the children about Quota. We are now recognized
in the community."

"Club supports a deaf club by paying for bus trips for further education.
Our ongoing support of 'Angel Flight' is promoting the club awareness."

"Club holds a science camp for primary school students who are deaf.
It is to encourage them to study the sciences and encourage them to go
to university. The camp is done on a weekend, parents come as interpreters,
and local Quotarians put them up in their homes and provide all meals
for students and families."

"Amplification systems installed in four schools to improve sound
quality in the classrooms. Generated publicity for the club."
QI of Iosco County, Michigan, U.S.A.
"Club is putting classroom amplification systems into the classrooms
for 1st through 3rd grade pupils at all schools in the area. The project
helps with public awareness."
QI of Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A.
"Contributed to a state-wide dance for deaf students. Members helped
out by getting food and drink donations. They also decorated the gym and
took digital photos of the students and then sent them to the schools."

"Money donated to our library for purchase of captioned videos. A
special needs school was also provided with a VCR to tape captioned programs."

"The club worked with jails. They placed computer systems into hospitals,
jails, etc., where deaf people can make use of them instead of waiting
for an interpreter. This system operates 24 hours a day."
QI of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia
"Club held educational forums for parents who have hearing disabilities.
Doctors and specialists spoke. A Web site was created that was taken over
by professionals to inform the public."
QI of Wooster, Ohio, U.S.A.
"We deliver services to the adult deaf community: video interpreting
services, summer speech programs for children, and interpretive services.
The club works as a liaison to deliver the services, i.e., in hospital
an interpreter would be provided in the correct language."
